One key element of the utmost importance for any bride......the hair and make up! The good thing these days is anything goes so this can really be a fantastic expression of your personal style. Wise Brides talks to salon owners Keri, Rebecca and Amy the dynamic team of sisters behind Rebel Rock, a fun, laidback and quirky salon experience with a touch of elegance of course!
WB: How did you get into the business and tell us a bit about what Rebel Rock do?
RR: Rebel Rock are two sisters that have a passion for creativity.
Becki is the Hairdresser and Keri is the Make-up artist.
Also, there is Amy the other sister behind the scenes running the accounts, so it is a Family Affair!
From a young age as you can imagine in a house of 3 girls we loved getting ourselves ready for a party, so it has always been in our bones.
Becki trained as a hair dresser when she left school so had a great understanding and knowledge of the industry.
Keri was a trained P.A. and ran a small business with her husband, and decided after having her children, she wanted to go back to college and train in makeup.
We did a lot of work separately at first to build up our portfolios then after a few years decided to launch Rebel Rock We absolutely love a challenge and this was one!
WB: Can you describe Rebel Rock’s Style?
RR: Rebel Rock’s style is Edgy but Fresh!
WB: What interests you in Bridal Hair & Make up?
RR: We have both always been interested in Hair & Make up since young ages we loved the before and after transformation. It stems from dressing up as a child.
WB: Can you discuss some current bridal hair & make up trends?
RR: The loose hair done but not done look is still popular. Brides make up trends are just very classic soft browns/taupe teamed with a blush lip or sometimes a daring Red lip.
WB: How do you plan the wedding timeline?
RR: Wedding timelines get planned a few weeks before we make sure we give everyone enough time for make up and hair. Bridesmaids usually have 45 mins for each hair then make up and we usually allow about an hour on each for the Bride.
WB: How would you describe your personal wedding style?
RR: Keri got married 15 years ago and the style was very traditional – Gold Bridesmaids dresses and Tiaras. Hair was half up half down with very minimal make up and she did it all herself as there were no make-up artists around at that time.
Becki is not married but if she was to she would have a boho festival style wedding and her hair would be up and make up very glam!
Hair - needs TLC as much as your skin, so, Becki recommends hair treatments monthly and a trim every 6-8 weeks.
Skin – make sure you are drinking plenty of water and ideally facials once a month leading up to the wedding - this is also great to destress!
